Labels: , ,

NEW YORK, NY (April 6, 2010) – The Barbados Tourism Authority has teamed with the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Miami HEAT for a three year corporate partnership deal.  The agreement lasting through the 2011-2012 season will encompass Internet and radio promotions and trip giveaways, in-arena visibility and advertising in addition to the upcoming “Barbados Theme Night” on Friday, April 9 versus the Detroit Pistons.
The Miami-based HEAT includes superstars Dwyane Wade and Carlos Arroyo who dazzle local fans and followers in the hometown AmericanAirlines Arena.  Throughout this season and the following two, fans will also be greeted with the sights and sounds of the island nation of Barbados through visuals and in-arena videos played during the games.  Burnie, the official mascot of the HEAT, and HEAT Dancer Jenny traveled to Barbados to experience first-hand the shimmering beaches and crystal-blue waters of the island.  Attendees of Friday’s game during the Barbados Theme Night will enjoy videos from Burnie and Jenny’s trip, Bajan music and the chance to text-to-win a trip to Barbados. Tickets for the April 9 game are still available and can be purchased online at HEAT.com.
In addition to the theme night, Barbados and the HEAT kicked off the “HEAT Up The Summer In Barbados” Internet promotion which includes a grand prize 3 day/2 night trip to Barbados for two with accommodation at Almond Beach Club & Spa.  From Miami, American Airlines has service to Barbados with a twice-daily non-stop route.
“We are very excited about our partnership with the Miami HEAT. It is an opportunity to simultaneously continue to build visibility for Barbados as well as bring a new level of excitement to our Miami community,” said Urban Cumberbatch, Vice President Sales & Marketing, The Americas (Ag.) with the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA).  “With daily direct flights from Miami to Barbados, it’s never been easier to get there. We look forward to seeing HEAT fans on the island’s sandy shores.”
